​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, welcomed the Lebanese government’s decision to adopt a practical plan to implement the resolution restricting arms to state authorities as the means of ensuring Lebanon’s stability.

Aboul Gheit rejects and condemns Israeli plan to reoccupy Gaza Strip

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, rejected and strongly condemned a plan announced to have been approved by the Israeli Security Cabinet. The plan calls for the “reoccupation” of the Gaza Strip, placing it under Israeli control, displacing the residents of Gaza City, and confining most of the Strip’s population to a small area in its south.

​His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Al-Ajeri, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector, met with Mr. Mohamed Ben Ayad, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, at the headquarters of the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 5 August in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Saleh Ben Issa, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Tunis Centre. The discussions focused on ways to enhance joint Arab action, as well as several technical matters of mutual interest.

Aboul Gheit receives Chairman of Jordan's Independent Election Commission

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Engineer Musa Maaytah, Chairman of the Independent Election Commission of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, along with his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 4 August. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Amjad Al-Adayleh, Permanent Representative of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the League of Arab States.

Head of League Mission conducts field tour to follow up on Egypt's Senate elections

​Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al Thawadi, Assistant Secretary-General, head of the Arab Affairs and National Security Sector, and head of the League of Arab States' Mission to Monitor the Senate Elections in the Arab Republic of Egypt, conducted a field tour on the morning of the first day of voting. During the tour, he inspected several polling stations in Cairo, one of the largest electoral constituencies, where he was briefed on the progress of the electoral process and the procedures in place to facilitate voting.

International determination to end racist settler occupation: League Secretary-General at International Conference on Peaceful Settlement of Question of Palestine

​The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, participated in the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held from 28 to 30 July in New York. Mr. Aboul Gheit delivered a speech before the General Assembly, beginning by expressing his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of France for their sincere and earnest efforts in convening this important conference.

​The High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held in New York from 28 to 30 July, has officially commenced. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, participated in a dialogue session to present the outcomes of the conference’s working groups. Alongside Ms. Dubravka Šuica, European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, he presented the final results of the Eighth Working Group, focused on "Peace Day Efforts," which is co-chaired by the League of Arab States and the European Union.
