Aboul Gheit welcomes overwhelming UN vote to refer UNRWA ban to the International Court of Justice

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, welcomed the United Nations General Assembly's vote in which 137 countries supported a resolution calling upon the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to issue a legal opinion regarding Israel's accusations against the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the occupation authorities' decisions to prohibit its operations in the occupied territories.

Aboul Gheit receives French Senate delegation

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received a delegation from the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the French Senate at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 17 December. The delegation was headed by Mr. François Panot, a member of the Council, as part of their official visit to Cairo.

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, inaugurated on 15 December the 16th Arab Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy, convening from 15 to 19 December at the Dead Sea in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The conference is organised by the Arab Atomic Energy Agency in collaboration with the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission, with the presence of His Excellency Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Jordan's Minister of Energy.

Aboul Gheit arrives in Port Sudan for a working visit

​​The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, arrived on  9 December in Port Sudan for a two-day working visit to the Republic of Sudan. Upon his arrival, he was received by His Excellency Mr. Ali Youssef Al-Sharif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, alongside a delegation of senior Sudanese government officials.
