​The General Secretariat (Media and Communication Sector) is organising the ninth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award under the theme "Arab Youth and New Media." The prestigious award, held under the auspices of the League of Arab States and sponsored by the State of Kuwait, aims to spotlight outstanding media contributions across the Arab world. It comprises four categories: television productions, radio productions, journalism, and digital media.

The League underscores that women's empowerment remains a cornerstone of its strategies, programmes, and initiatives, grounded in the firm belief that comprehensive and sustainable development cannot be realised without the active and equal participation of women across all sectors.

​Arab countries commemorate Arab Water Day annually on 3 March. This year the Day was held under the theme “Sustainable Water for a Better Water Future,” underscoring the critical importance of advancing the water sector and addressing the formidable challenges that hinder Arab nations' pursuit of water security. The Arab region is among the most water-scarce in the world, with a vast majority of its population enduring severe water shortages—an issue that poses a significant obstacle to sustainable development. Water scarcity directly impacts access to clean water, thereby influencing energy and food security as well as overall economic growth.

General Secretariat organises consultative meeting on environmental dimension of achieving SDGs

​The Economic Affairs Sector, in collaboration and coordination with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and with the participation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – West Asia Office, convened a consultative meeting on 25–26 February to address the environmental dimension of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
